Here at Fusion we are huge advocates for having a plan, all of our managers and senior staff are tasked with setting objectives for their direct reports, and as a group of directors we meet on a monthly basis to discuss how our plan is going for the business and anything that might be causing a delay.
A large part of my job within Fusion is to create strategies for our clients, mainly based around their IT but also to align with their longer term company goals and to provide a sounding board for any ideas that they might have.
A good IT Strategy has various elements, but should always incorporate a few fundamental rules.
- Can it grow with me?
- Will it last?
- How will it improve the company?
- Does it make me more secure?
These questions can be hard to answer, but they are all vitally important, if you don’t tick all of those boxes, you will undoubtedly have a problem somewhere down the line.
- If it isn’t flexible enough to grow with you, or shrink with you, you might get tied into something that isn’t right for you longer term.
- If your security isn’t top notch and your data gets compromised, that can have huge effects both commercially and on your reputation. (Click here for your FREE Cyber Security Training!)
- If it is only short term with no long term thought, you may end up in a situation where you are suddenly behind the curve compared to your competitors.
- If your solution isn’t improving how you do things as a company, you won’t get buy in from your staff and they will slip back into old ways.
Not everyone is an IT expert, and in the modern world of Cloud/Hybrid/AI/365/AWS and all of the different buzz words, it can be hard to see the wood for the trees. Sometimes you just need to talk to someone and bounce some ideas around before coming up with a 1/3/5 year IT plan that gets you to where you want to be.
If that sounds like it is something that would be useful to you, get in touch with our Sales team and ask to speak to Matt or Jim about an IT Management contract and we will help you create you a strategy that is meaningful, achievable and measurable.
